Notorious Nigerian Escapee Caught: From Dominican Republic to Haiti Extradition
IK Egbor, a Nigerian national, was arrested in the Dominican Republic on December 24, 2024, while attempting to obtain a travel document under false pretenses.
Haitian authorities had been seeking Egbor since his escape from prison on March 3, 2024, during a mass breakout.
He had been detained in 2022 at Toussaint Louverture International Airport for attempting to smuggle drugs concealed in his abdomen while traveling to Paris.
Egbor’s arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Dominican Republic’s Human Trafficking and Smuggling Investigation Department (DICRIM) and Haiti’s Bureau Lutte Trafic StupĂ©fiant (BLTS/DCPJ).
He is currently in custody in the Dominican Republic and is set to be extradited to Haiti to face judicial proceedings for his alleged crimes.
