Breaking News: Katsina Police Rescue Ten From Kidnappers
On December 24, 2024, at approximately 8:30 PM, the Katsina State Police Command successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt involving 10 passengers traveling in a commercial vehicle along the Katsina–Magama Jibia road in Jibia Local Government Area.
The assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, ambushed the vehicle at Kwanar Makera, firing sporadically in an attempt to abduct the occupants. Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Jibia led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a gunfight.
All 10 victims were rescued; however, four sustained gunshot injuries and were promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention. Tragically, two of the victims succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their exceptional display of gallantry and dedication to duty, urging them to sustain the tempo.
He also called on members of the public to provide useful information on suspected criminal activities to the nearest police station for prompt and decisive action.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.
