The Former Women Affairs Minister Discusses Her No-Regret Approach to Leadership
Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has stated that she has no regrets about her tenure in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In an interview on December 25, 2024, she emphasized that she prioritized action over protocol, especially when addressing sensitive cases involving vulnerable individuals. She remarked, “I have no regrets in the way I did my job. I don’t have regrets. I don’t think I could have done it better.”
Kennedy-Ohanenye, who was dismissed from her ministerial position in October 2024, faced controversies during her tenure, including a threat to sue the United Nations over alleged mismanagement of funds intended for Nigeria.
Despite her dismissal, she remains committed to defending vulnerable individuals in society and has refocused on her previous endeavors.
Addressing criticisms about her direct approach, she explained that witnessing firsthand the plight of victims required immediate action rather than adherence to formal protocols.
She stated, “As a minister, you are supposed to be a servant; you listen to the people and respond quickly before things go wrong.”
