Justice and Mercy: Gov Adeleke’s Historic Pardon in Fowl Theft Case

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has pardoned Segun Olowookere and his co-convict, Sunday Morakinyo, who were sentenced to death in 2014 for armed robbery, including the theft of a fowl.

Olowookere, who was 17 at the time of his arrest in 2010, gained public attention after his mother appealed for his release, leading to a review of his case.

In total, Governor Adeleke pardoned 53 inmates, following recommendations from the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
