Terrifying Incident: Air Canada Jet Veers Off Halifax Runway into Flames
On December 28, 2024, an Air Canada Express flight from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, experienced a landing incident at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia.
The aircraft’s landing gear malfunctioned, causing the plane to skid off the runway and a wing to catch fire. All 73 passengers and crew were safely evacuated, with no reported injuries.
The incident led to a temporary suspension of flight operations at the airport, resulting in diversions, cancellations, and delays. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the cause of the malfunction.
This event occurred on the same night as other aviation incidents, including a tragic crash involving a Jeju Air flight in South Korea, which resulted in significant loss of life.
