Heroic NSCDC Operation in Abia: Two Child Traffickers Arrested, Young Girl Saved
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abia State has arrested two individuals on charges of child trafficking and abduction in Aba.
The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Uche Royal from Ohaji in Imo State and 20-year-old Chidera Donatus from Nenwe in Enugu State, were apprehended on December 26, 2024, following credible intelligence reports.
During the operation, the NSCDC successfully rescued a three-year-old girl named Chiamaka Ahamefula, who hails from Ukpaka Ukwu in Umuahia.
Investigations revealed that Donatus was introduced to Royal by an accomplice known as Danji, who resides in Aba and is currently at large. Further findings indicate that the suspects have been involved in this illicit activity for some time.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Akinsola Aderemi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities in the state.
He stated that upon the conclusion of investigations, the case would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for prosecution.
Additionally, Aderemi urged parents to take responsibility for the proper upbringing of their children and called on the public to provide credible information to aid in combating such crimes.
This operation underscores the importance of community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement agencies in addressing the menace of child trafficking and ensuring the safety of vulnerable children.
