Tinubu’s Safety: Presidency Warns Governor Bala Mohammed on Threats
The Nigerian Presidency has urged Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to retract his recent statements criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s proposed tax reform bills.
Governor Mohammed had described the reforms as “anti-northern” and warned that the northern region might “show its true colours” if the policies proceed.
In response, Presidential spokesperson Sunday Dare labeled the governor’s remarks as “inflammatory” and not reflective of the collective stance of Northern Nigeria.
Dare emphasized that such statements could hinder constructive dialogue between state and federal governments.
Dare highlighted that Bauchi State has received a significant increase in federal allocations under the current administration, totaling N144 billion.
He suggested that Governor Mohammed should focus on implementing effective poverty alleviation programs and ensuring transparent utilization of these resources.
The Presidency reiterated its commitment to collaborative governance and urged public officials to prioritize national unity and constructive engagement over divisive rhetoric.
The proposed tax reforms aim to streamline Nigeria’s tax system, and the federal government encourages open dialogue to address any concerns.
