Benue Governor’s Convoy Involved in Deadly Crash: Details Inside
A tragic incident occurred on December 29, 2024, involving a vehicle from the convoy of Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia. The accident took place in Ihugh, Vandeikya Local Government Area, resulting in one fatality and injuries to others.
Reports indicate that the crash was caused by reduced visibility due to dust on the untarred road. One of the vehicles veered off course and collided with a motorcycle, leading to the death of one person and injuries to others.
Solomon Iorpev, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, confirmed the incident but clarified that the vehicle involved was not part of the main convoy at the time.
He explained that the vehicle was on a separate mission when the accident occurred, attributing the cause to poor visibility from road dust.
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed. Local authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
