Pere Egbi Reveals Strategy Behind N8m Profit from N200m Film Project
Actor and reality TV star Pere Egbi recently shared his challenging experience with his film “The Silent Intruder,” highlighting the financial difficulties he faced in the Nigerian cinema industry.
In an Instagram post, Egbi revealed that he invested over ₦200 million in the production of the film, combining personal funds and a loan from a friend.
Despite this substantial investment, the film grossed only ₦53 million in cinemas, from which he personally received just ₦8 million.
Egbi expressed frustration over the film’s limited success and the lack of distribution deals with major streaming platforms like Netflix and Prime Video, even after nearly 11 months since its release.
He attributed part of the film’s underperformance to challenges within the cinema distribution system, including unfavorable screening times and inadequate promotion.
As a result of the financial losses, Egbi mentioned that he had to return to the United States to work in order to repay the loan he took for the film’s production.
He also indicated that if no distribution deals materialize by the end of January 2025, he plans to release the film on YouTube.
