Lagos Police Station Ablaze: Dramatic Tanker Fire Caught on Video
A diesel tanker explosion on December 31, 2024, caused significant damage to the Okokomaiko Police Station in Lagos State. The incident occurred while the tanker, carrying 10,000 liters of diesel, was offloading fuel to a network mast and caught fire during the process.
The fire rapidly spread to adjacent structures, including nine offices within the police station, three residential bungalows, and several shops.
Additionally, a hotel’s generator house and kitchen, as well as nearby PHCN transformer cables, sustained damage.
Emergency response teams, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, responded promptly to contain the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
This incident underscores the critical need for stringent safety measures during the handling and transfer of flammable substances to prevent such hazardous occurrences.
