Queens Nightclub Tragedy: Mass Shooting Leaves At Least 10 Wounded
On the night of January 1, 2025, a mass shooting occurred outside the Amazura nightclub in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York City, resulting in injuries to ten individuals.
The incident took place around 11:15 p.m. as a group of approximately 15 young people, aged between 16 and 20, were waiting to enter a private event at the venue.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), four male suspects approached the crowd on foot and fired over 30 rounds before fleeing the scene in a gray Infiniti Q50 sedan with out-of-state license plates.
The gunfire struck six females and four males, all of whom were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The private event at Amazura was reportedly a celebration of the life of Taearion Mungo, a 16-year-old who was fatally shot in Brooklyn in October 2024.
NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera condemned the violence, stating, “There is zero tolerance for these senseless shootings, these acts of violence. Those responsible will be brought to justice.” Authorities have indicated that the incident is not being treated as an act of terrorism.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the NYPD is actively seeking information from the public to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact law enforcement.
