Shocking Incident in Imo: Priest Shoots Teen Dead Over Knockout Claim
A tragic incident occurred during the New Year’s Eve service at St. Columbus Catholic Church in Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, where a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Joseph Enyinnaya, allegedly shot and killed a teenager who ignited fireworks, commonly known as “knockouts,” within the church premises.
Eyewitnesses reported that the teenager was celebrating the New Year by setting off fireworks when the priest confronted him. The confrontation escalated, leading to the priest allegedly drawing a revolver and shooting the boy.
The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Rev. Father Enyinnaya. The spokesperson for the command, Henry Okoye, stated, “The priest has been arrested, and the body of the boy has been recovered and deposited at Atta Ikeduru Mortuary.”
He further mentioned that a detailed investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
