Stanley Nwabali’s Heartbreak: Super Eagles Goalie Loses Both Parents Within a Month
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has suffered the loss of both parents within a short period. His mother passed away on January 1, 2025, just over six weeks after his father’s death in November 2024.
Nwabali announced his mother’s passing on his official X account, expressing his grief: “Rip mom, worst year of my life already.”
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) extended their condolences, stating: “Our heartfelt condolences to Stanley Nwabali on the loss of his mother.
Stay strong, Stanley. Sending you strength and support during this difficult time. You are not alone; we are all with you.”
Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United, has been a key figure for the Super Eagles, notably during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where he kept five clean sheets and solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s top goalkeepers.
