How Tinubu’s Allies Are Gaining from Recent Reforms – Insights from Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent economic reforms, alleging that they primarily benefit the president’s associates, bankers, and government officials, rather than ordinary Nigerians.
Rhodes-Vivour highlighted the escalating hardships faced by the populace, noting that over 70% of individuals’ incomes are now spent on transportation and food, leaving little for other essentials like housing.
He also expressed concern over the government’s culture of wastefulness and extravagance, which he believes does not align with the country’s economic challenges.
In response to President Tinubu’s New Year message, which promised better days ahead, Rhodes-Vivour questioned the president’s understanding of the average Nigerian’s daily struggles, suggesting that the government’s policies are not effectively addressing the needs of the general populace.
