Harry Maguire Leaps Forward with Man United’s One-Year Contract Extension
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that the club will activate a one-year extension in Harry Maguire’s contract, securing the defender’s services until June 2026.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City in 2019 for a record £80 million fee, has faced challenges, including personal abuse and fluctuating team performance.
Under Amorim’s leadership, he has regained form, featuring in recent matches and occasionally wearing the captain’s armband.
Amorim emphasized the importance of Maguire’s leadership, stating, “We all know the situation he had here but we need him a lot in this moment so we are going to trigger, happily, the option for Harry.”
He also noted that Maguire must continue to improve both his performance and leadership qualities.
This decision comes as United seeks to enhance on-field leadership and stability amid a challenging period in the Premier League.
The club is also close to agreeing on a new deal with Amad Diallo, reflecting Amorim’s commitment to retaining key players.
