Governor Sule’s Bold Move: Nasarawa’s Cabinet Overhaul Explained
On January 3, 2025, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule announced the dissolution of his cabinet, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Muhammad Aliyu-Ubamdoma, and all commissioners.
This decision was communicated during an emergency executive meeting at the Government House in Lafia, following Vice President Kashim Shetima’s one-day visit to the state.
Governor Sule directed all outgoing commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries and all government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries. Similarly, the SSG is to transfer responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary for Cabinet Affairs and Special Services.
The governor expressed gratitude to the outgoing appointees for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavors.
This move is seen as a significant restructuring of the state’s administration, with expectations of a new cabinet to be appointed promptly to implement the 2025 budget and continue the state’s development initiatives.
