AI in Art: Adeboye’s Take on the Viral ‘Alhaji’ Picture
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), addressed a viral AI-generated image depicting him as an alhaji. During the first Holy Ghost Night of 2025, he humorously remarked, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji,” distancing himself from the portrayal.
The image, which surfaced in December 2024, showed Adeboye in Islamic attire, leading to confusion among some followers due to his Christian leadership role.
He also cautioned against mocking and spreading falsehoods, warning that many mockers might not survive the year, while emphasizing that God’s desire is for sinners to repent, not perish.
