President Tinubu in Enugu: Major Takeaways from His Working Visit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Enugu State on Saturday, January 4, 2025, for a one-day official visit. He was warmly received at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport by Governor Peter Mbah and other dignitaries. Notably, President Tinubu donned the traditional Igbo attire, Ishiagu, complemented by a red cap, symbolizing respect for the local culture.
During his visit, President Tinubu inaugurated several key projects initiated by the Enugu State government. These included the Enugu International Conference Centre, 30 completed Smart Green Schools out of 260 under construction across the state’s wards, and 60 fully equipped Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, part of a broader initiative to enhance healthcare access.
Additionally, he commissioned a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre and unveiled 150 patrol vehicles equipped with AI-embedded surveillance cameras, underscoring a commitment to bolstering security infrastructure.
The President’s entourage featured prominent figures such as the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
The reception committee included Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Alex Otti of Abia State, Anambra’s Deputy Governor, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, and Minister of Works Dave Umahi, reflecting a broad spectrum of political representation.
President Tinubu’s visit to Enugu, traditionally a stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), marks his first official engagement in 2025.
