Debunking Lies: APC Spokesperson Clarifies Statement to Peter Obi
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has refuted allegations from Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, that Morka threatened his life and that of his family.
Obi had claimed that Morka warned him of consequences for his New Year message to President Bola Tinubu. Morka described these allegations as “malicious lies” and emphasized that his comments were misinterpreted. He stated, “Nothing that Morka said in that interview or any other forum remotely contains or suggests threat against Mr. Obi or anyone else.”
Morka further criticized Obi’s tactics, labeling him as “a liar with deceit and manipulation tactics.” He accused Obi of deliberately misrepresenting his statements to play the victim and incite public outrage. Morka added, “Obi’s tactics of deceit and manipulation must be called out.”
In response, the APC explained that Morka’s remark about Obi “crossing the line” was in reference to Obi’s criticism of President Tinubu. The party described Obi’s supporters as a “headless mob” who bully and issue death threats to those who disagree with or criticize Obi’s views.
The APC stated, “Obi leads a restless band of online mobs who continue to attack, intimidate, bully, and issue death threats to other citizens who dare disagree or criticise Obi or his opinions or position on any subject of national conversation.”
The Labour Party has called for the reprimand of APC spokesman Felix Morka, urging President Tinubu to address the alleged threat to Peter Obi.
