Police Successfully Apprehend Suspected Car Thief in Kano: A Community Response
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old suspect, Bala Sani, in connection with the theft of a grey Rav-4 mini jeep, registration number YAB 881 JK Abuja.
The vehicle was initially stolen from Zaria, Kaduna State, and later found abandoned during a police patrol along Kwanar Ungogo in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State on December 28, 2024.
Preliminary investigations led to Sani’s arrest on January 4, 2025, at his residence in Kwado Quarters, Katsina Local Government Area, Katsina State.
During interrogation, Sani confessed to conspiring with an accomplice to steal the vehicle in Zaria. He admitted to driving it to Kano with the intention of selling it but abandoned the plan upon noticing police presence near Ungogo Junction, prompting him to flee to his hometown.
The recovered vehicle is currently in police custody. The Kano State Police Command has urged the rightful owner to come forward with proof of ownership by contacting the Police Public Relations Office or calling 08067885568.
The suspect is expected to be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
