January 13 Ruling: What to Expect from the Court Regarding Prophetess Naomi and Oriyomi’s Bail in the Ibadan Stampede Incident
The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan is scheduled to rule on the bail applications of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, CEO of Agidigbo FM; and Abdullahi Fasasi, principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The trio faces charges related to a tragic stampede during a children’s event at the school on December 18, 2024, which resulted in the deaths of at least 35 children.
During a hearing on January 7, 2025, the defense teams presented arguments for bail, asserting that the accused do not pose a flight risk and are willing to cooperate with the investigation.
The prosecution, led by Oyo State Attorney General Abiodun Aikomo, opposed the bail applications, emphasizing the severity of the charges and the need to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
