Kano LG Chairman’s Bold Decision: 60 Aides to Transform Local Administration
Yusuf Imam, the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government Area in Kano State, has appointed 60 individuals to various positions within his administration. These appointments, announced on January 6, 2024, are part of his strategy to enhance the local government’s operations.
The newly appointed aides will serve in roles such as personal assistants, special assistants, directors-general, and special reporters. Notably, 18 special reporters have been assigned to oversee different departments, markets, and primary healthcare centers within the LGA.
The appointments were communicated through a letter signed by the Local Government Secretary, Ado Muhd Hotoro, emphasizing that selections were based on merit, dedication, honesty, and commitment.
The letter stated, “Sequel to the efforts of the Honourable Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government to promote and develop the local government area, I wish to convey the approval for the appointment of the following prominent individuals to various roles across different fields and professions.”
This move has sparked discussions among the public, with some expressing concerns over the necessity and financial implications of appointing such a large number of aides at the local government level.
Yusuf Imam, also known as ‘Ogan Boye’, has previously been in the spotlight. In September 2023, he was dismissed from his position as Special Adviser on Youth and Sport by Governor Abba Yusuf for making derogatory remarks about Vice President Kashim Shettima. Despite this, he was later elected as the council chairman for Nasarawa LGA.
