Niger State Police Capture Man Linked to the Killing of Okada Rider and Subsequent Motorcycle Theft
On January 2, 2025, the Niger State Police Command arrested Abubakar Sadiq, a resident of Pyata village in Bosso Local Government Area, for the alleged murder of 20-year-old Abdulrahman Isah, a commercial motorcyclist from Pyata village, Maitumbi, a suburb of Minna, the state capital.
According to police reports, Sadiq boarded Isah’s motorcycle at Berger Junction in Bosso, intending to travel to Maitumbi. During the journey, Sadiq reportedly deceived Isah into taking a secluded path along the Pyata-Maitumbi Bye-Pass Road, where he struck Isah on the head with a stone, rendering him unconscious.
Sadiq then stole the motorcycle and sold it to Ibrahim Garba, a 35-year-old motorcycle dealer at Beji Market, for N310,000. Garba subsequently sold the motorcycle to Bala Usman of Wushishi. Both Garba and Usman have been arrested, and N300,000 was recovered from them.
The police have assured that all suspects are undergoing preliminary investigations and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
