Man Awarded £5,000 Compensation Following Shaving Injury: A Cautionary Tale
Nick Silverthorn, a 48-year-old landscape gardener from London, received a £5,000 settlement after suing Wilkinson Sword for a defective razor.
In 2023, Silverthorn purchased the Sainsbury’s Men Advance 3 razor and sustained severe cuts due to a detached blade. The incident caused significant bleeding and led to recurring nightmares for several months.
Silverthorn preserved the defective razor as evidence and initiated legal action. Wilkinson Sword offered the settlement without admitting liability. Neither Wilkinson Sword nor Sainsbury’s provided comments when contacted.
Silverthorn’s decision to sue was partly motivated by concern for the safety of others.
