Yoruba Leaders Stand Firm Against Criminal Activities in the Region
Gani Adams, the Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, has expressed strong opposition to the growing presence of bandits and kidnappers in the South-West region. He emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent the area from becoming a stronghold for such criminal activities.
Adams’ concerns were heightened following an alarm raised by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who reported that bandits fleeing military operations in the North-West have infiltrated forests in Oyo State. Adams warned that ignoring this threat could have severe consequences for the entire South-West region.
In response, Adams called for a coordinated and urgent approach to tackle the issue before it escalates further. He stressed the importance of regional autonomy and the establishment of state police to effectively address the security challenges.
Adams’ call to action underscores the critical need for collaborative efforts among South-West governors, security agencies, and local communities to combat the rising threat of banditry and kidnapping in the region.
