Sudden Demise of Cross River Tourism Commissioner: What It Means for the State
Abubakar Robert Ewa, the Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, passed away on Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025, at Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar.
Earlier that day, Ewa attended the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Bassey Otu, where he actively participated and made contributions.
Shortly after the meeting, he excused himself and was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ewa’s career included roles as Secretary and Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council, Special Adviser on Community Relations, and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.
