Cult-Related Violence in Bayelsa: Three Lives Lost
On January 8, 2025, a violent clash between rival cult groups, the Bobos and the Greenlanders, resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Igbogene, a community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

- Donaldson Mison, 28, son of a former leader of the community’s vigilante group.
- Addy Mulan, 27.

The assailants reportedly targeted Mison near his residence. Mulan, who was not affiliated with any cult, was shot after failing to disclose his elder brother’s whereabouts.

The Youth President of Igbogene, Ezekiel Igbenivie, confirmed the incident, noting that one of the victims survived and is receiving medical treatment. The arrival of police teams from the Operation Door Akpor Division, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and the Rapid Response Team helped stabilize the situation.
