CDS Christopher Musa Calls for UN Action on Boko Haram Training and Funding
Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on the United Nations to investigate the funding and training of Boko Haram terrorists.
In a recent interview, General Musa highlighted that over 120,000 Boko Haram members have surrendered, many possessing hard currency, raising questions about the sources of their funding, training, and equipment.
He emphasized the need for the UN to trace these international financial flows, suggesting the possibility of an international conspiracy sustaining the insurgency over the past 15 years.
This call for investigation comes amid concerns about the Nigerian military’s ability to independently trace and disrupt the financial and logistical networks supporting Boko Haram.
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has expressed serious concerns over the inability of Nigerian intelligence agencies to address these issues, questioning the effectiveness of institutions like the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA).
