Osinbajo’s Political Journey: Insights from Akande
Laolu Akande, former spokesperson to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has addressed speculations regarding Osinbajo’s political involvement. Akande emphasized that there is no indication that Osinbajo has departed from politics or the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that Osinbajo has not informed him of any intention to leave politics and remains a member of the APC. Akande further noted that Osinbajo would attend any APC gathering requiring his presence.
These remarks come amid discussions about the political future of Southern Nigeria. Akande has advocated for a political arrangement to ensure that Southern Nigeria retains the presidency in 2027, completing an eight-year rotational cycle.
He argued that the South must complete its eight years in office, dismissing ongoing coalitions by some northern politicians as “child’s play.”
