1,860 Foreign Nationals Arrested for Child Sexual Crimes: England and Wales Statistics Unveiled
In 2024, authorities in England and Wales arrested 1,860 foreign nationals on charges of sexual offences against children. This figure represents a significant portion of the total arrests for such crimes, highlighting the involvement of non-British citizens in these serious offences.
Research from the Centre for Migration Control indicates that foreign citizens are 3.5 times more likely to be arrested for sexual offences compared to British adults.
Between January and October 2024, over 9,000 arrests of non-British citizens for alleged sexual offences were recorded, comprising a quarter of all such arrests. The arrest rate for sexual offences per 100,000 individuals was notably higher among foreign citizens (164) compared to British adults (48).
These statistics underscore the critical need for targeted interventions and enhanced border security measures to address the disproportionate involvement of foreign nationals in child sexual offences. The Centre for Migration Control has called for stricter immigration policies and improved monitoring to mitigate this issue.
The high arrest rates among foreign nationals for sexual offences against children have raised concerns about the effectiveness of current immigration and law enforcement policies.
