Gunmen Rampage in Nasarawa: Community Suffers as 7 Die
On January 11, 2025, gunmen attacked Kadarko village in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including a woman. The assailants, suspected to be members of a Fulani militia, stormed the village in the early hours, carrying out the attack.
This incident occurred just 48 hours after a previous attack in the same area, where two individuals were reported missing, and 73 cows were killed. Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura visited the affected area to commiserate with the residents and assured them of increased security measures.
He stated, “I am here personally to commiserate with all of you, especially families of those who were maimed last night.” The governor emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary protection and deploying security forces to ensure the safety of the community.
In response to the escalating violence, the state government has intensified security operations, including the deployment of mobile police units and military personnel, as well as aerial surveillance to track down the perpetrators. The authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the security agencies.
