Expired Drip Scandal: Businesswoman Takes Stand Against Hospital Negligence
A Nigerian businesswoman has accused a hospital of administering an expired intravenous (IV) drip to her mother. She shared a photo of the IV fluid, which displayed an expiration date of September 2024, to support her claim.
Upon raising her concerns with the nursing staff, she was reportedly informed that the IV fluid was still effective for up to three months beyond its expiration date.
In a subsequent update, the businesswoman revealed that the hospital has issued a refund to her.
Administering expired medical products can pose significant health risks, as the safety and efficacy of such products cannot be guaranteed beyond their expiration dates.
