Governor Sule Explains His Change of Heart on Tax Reform Legislation
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has reversed his stance on the controversial tax reforms bill, stating that his initial concerns have been addressed.
He emphasized that the opposition was not to tax reforms per se but to certain provisions in the bill’s original form.
The governor highlighted that the objective was to ensure thorough discussion and review of the bill before its passage. He commended the House of Representatives, particularly the Speaker, for facilitating further scrutiny and opportunities for review, which led to his change in position.
Governor Sule also dismissed the notion of a rift between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and northern governors over the tax reform, stating that the governors cannot fight the President on this matter.
