Insurance Controversy: Tyler Perry Slams Companies Amid LA Wildfires
Tyler Perry has publicly criticized insurance companies for canceling millions of policies for Los Angeles homeowners just before the devastating wildfires that began on January 7, 2025.
He shared a poignant story on Instagram about a woman using a garden hose to protect her elderly parents’ home after their insurance was canceled, highlighting the dire consequences of such actions.
Perry condemned the greed of insurance companies, stating that people who have paid premiums all their lives are now abandoned. He expressed his intention to do all he can to help those affected by the fires.
The wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, have caused extensive damage, burning nearly 38,000 acres and forcing over 100,000 residents to evacuate.
Numerous residents lost their homes, and celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Miles Teller, and Adam Brody were among those affected.
In response to the insurance companies’ actions, California officials have taken steps to address the issue, including implementing regulations to prevent insurers from canceling or non-renewing policies in fire-affected areas for 12 months, providing residents with some security.
