Delay in DNA Test: Mohbad’s Widow Points Fingers at Father
Omowunmi, the widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of delaying a court-ordered DNA test intended to confirm the paternity of her son.
The Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had previously directed both parties to undergo a DNA test at a mutually agreed-upon medical facility.
However, disagreements over the choice of hospital have stalled the process. Omowunmi objected to Aloba’s selection of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, while Aloba rejected her choice of Lagoon Hospitals.
In an effort to move forward, Omowunmi proposed alternative facilities, including The Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospitals, but has reportedly received no response from Aloba.
In a letter dated January 9, 2025, Omowunmi’s legal representatives expressed frustration over the lack of progress and accused Aloba of making defamatory statements about her son on social media. They warned that if delays persist, they may proceed with the DNA test independently and make the results public.
In response, Aloba’s legal counsel denied any intentional delay, stating that misinterpretations had arisen from media interactions. They also announced their withdrawal from representing Aloba in this matter.
