Breaking News: Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Abubakar Yakubu and Almustapha Hassan, suspected of armed robbery. Acting on intelligence, police operatives, in collaboration with the Peace and Security Committee, conducted a raid on January 8, 2025, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the discovery of two fabricated pistols concealed in the ceiling of their residence.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to acquiring the firearms from an unidentified source in Alkaleri Local Government Area. They admitted to orchestrating multiple robbery operations, primarily targeting the Gwallaga and Behind NIDB areas of Bauchi.
Their criminal activities included stealing motorcycles and household items, such as pots, which they sold at Muda-Lawal Market. The stolen pots were destroyed and sold by weight, while the motorcycles were dismantled and sold in parts to various buyers.
Items recovered from the suspects include two fabricated pistols, two motorcycles, a machete, ATM cards, and other stolen goods.
