Los Angeles Fires Claim ABC News Reporter’s Home Immediately After Move-In
ABC News reporter Zohreen Shah and her husband, Rishi, recently experienced a devastating loss when their newly purchased “dream home” in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles was destroyed by the Palisades Fire.
The couple had spent six years searching for the perfect coastal property and had just moved in late December 2024. Tragically, they spent only one night in their new home before it was consumed by the flames.
Shah shared her heartbreak on Instagram, posting before and after images of the property and reflecting on the fleeting joy they experienced.
She described the home as “magical,” situated close to nature with views of the ocean and wildlife. Despite the loss, Shah expressed determination to rebuild and gratitude for the support received.
The Palisades Fire, which has burned over 23,700 acres and remains largely uncontained, is one of the costliest wildfires in U.S. history. Disney, ABC’s parent company, has offered housing and other support to affected employees. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
