Six Notorious Phone Thieves Arrested in Kano: Police Reveal Tricycle Operation
The Kano State Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected of operating a mobile phone theft ring within Kano metropolis. The suspects, identified as Bashir Isah, Isyaku Bala, Mudansir Ayuba, Muzambil Abdullahi, Ibrahim Mohammed, and Hassan Sagir, allegedly disguised themselves as tricycle riders to steal mobile phones from unsuspecting passengers.
The arrests, conducted between January 11 and 15, 2025, were the result of intelligence-led operations by the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department. Recovered items include two operational tricycles with registration numbers KBT-850WZ and DAL-113WZ, along with 15 mobile phones believed to have been stolen.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication. He also appreciated the public’s cooperation, which was instrumental in the operation’s success. The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment to cracking down on all forms of criminality in the state, including mobile phone theft, armed robbery, and street thuggery.
