Apology Issued: Man Retracts Bizarre Claim Against Police in Viral Video
A 31-year-old man, Benedict Toju Ogheneovo, was paraded by the Delta State Police for falsely alleging that officers had made his manhood disappear. The incident occurred on January 13, 2025, when Ogheneovo and two others were initially stopped and searched by police operatives from the Ekpan Division in Uvwie Local Government Area.
After being allowed to go, Ogheneovo returned, claiming that the police had caused his manhood to disappear. He was subsequently brought to the station, where medical examination revealed that his manhood was intact, indicating that his claim was a result of psychological trauma.
This incident highlights the phenomenon known as “koro,” a culturally specific anxiety disorder where individuals believe their genitals have disappeared or are retracting. Such beliefs can lead to public disturbances and, in some cases, violence.
