Analyzing Trump’s Response to TikTok Ban by Supreme Court
On January 17, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously upheld a law mandating the forced sale of TikTok from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, citing national security concerns over data collection and foreign adversary ties.
In response, President-elect Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that he would need time to review the situation before making a decision.
This decision follows a bipartisan law signed by President Joe Biden, requiring ByteDance to divest from TikTok due to national security concerns.
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew has expressed optimism about Trump’s involvement in finding a solution to keep the app available in the U.S.
