President Tinubu Addresses Rivers State Concerns with Gov Fubara and Wike
On January 21, 2025, President Bola Tinubu convened a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with key stakeholders from Rivers State to address pressing issues concerning the region. The delegation included Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, and leaders from Ogoniland, such as Senators Lee Maeba, Magnus Abe, Olaka Nwogu, Chief Victor Giadom, Chief Kenneth Kobani, Monsignor Pius Kii, Ledum Mitee, Senators Bennett Birabi, Barry Mpigi, and Professor B. Fakae.
The discussions focused on critical matters affecting Ogoniland and the broader Rivers State community. While specific details of the deliberations were not publicly disclosed, the assembly underscores the federal government’s commitment to fostering unity and addressing regional concerns through direct engagement with local leaders.
This meeting follows previous efforts by President Tinubu to mediate and resolve political tensions within Rivers State. In December 2023, the President facilitated a peace agreement between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike, resulting in an eight-point resolution aimed at deescalating conflicts and promoting collaborative governance in the state.
