Yobe Market Attack: Armed Robbers Steal N16.5m, Leaving 7 Dead
On January 20, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, a group of six armed robbers attacked Ngalda Market in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State. The assailants targeted three shops, resulting in seven fatalities and eleven injuries. The robbers stole approximately ₦16.5 million during the incident.
In response, local residents mobilized and killed three of the robbers, while the remaining three escaped with injuries. The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a suspected bandit kingpin, Datti Alhaji Dadji, believed to be the mastermind behind the attack. A locally made pistol and three cartridges were recovered during his arrest.
The injured victims and the bodies of the deceased were transported to the General Hospital in Fika for medical treatment and autopsy, respectively. The police have extended their condolences to the families affected and assured the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
