Rivers Cybercrime Crackdown: 90 Foreign Nationals Arrested by Immigration
The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 90 foreign nationals for alleged involvement in cybercrime activities. The operation, conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, led to the apprehension of individuals primarily from Cameroon and Chad.
Specifically, the detainees include 85 Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians, comprising 74 males and 20 females.
According to Y.I. Abdulmajeed, the Rivers State Comptroller of NIS, all 90 foreigners entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes and lacked valid travel documents or residence permits. Additionally, two Nigerians who provided accommodation to the suspects were also arrested.
The Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered a thorough investigation and initiated procedures to repatriate the foreign nationals to their respective countries.
