The Political Fallout: Governor Bala’s Bold Critique of Wike’s Dual Allegiance
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, labeling him as a “transactional politician” whose personal ambitions overshadow party loyalty and collective principles. This critique was issued through a statement by Governor Mohammed’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The statement accuses Wike of undermining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the very platform that facilitated his political rise, by aligning himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC) while still claiming PDP membership. Governor Mohammed expressed concern that Wike’s “dual loyalty” sets a dangerous precedent in Nigerian politics, eroding democratic values and public trust.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that governance should prioritize competence and public service over personal relationships, contrasting his own leadership approach with Wike’s alleged divisiveness. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Bauchi State and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, distancing himself from what he described as Wike’s self-serving theatrics.
