Dylan Thomas: Heir to £230 Million Pie Fortune Jailed for Friend’s Murder
Dylan Thomas, a 24-year-old heir to a £230 million pie company fortune, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years for the murder of his best friend, William Bush. The incident occurred on December 24, 2023, at their shared residence in Llandaff, Cardiff, where Thomas stabbed Bush 37 times in a “brutal” attack.
Prior to the attack, Thomas had conducted online searches related to anatomy and assisted suicide, suggesting premeditation.
Despite being diagnosed with schizophrenia and psychosis, the court found that his mental state did not diminish his responsibility for the crime. Thomas had pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility, but the jury convicted him of murder in November 2024.
During the sentencing, the victim’s family expressed profound grief over the loss of William Bush, describing him as a loving and promising young man. The court acknowledged the devastating impact of the crime on the family and emphasized the severity of Thomas’s actions.
