N10m Ransom: Three Suspected in Gombe Kidnap-Murder Case Apprehended
On January 26, 2025, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of three individuals implicated in the abduction and subsequent murder of Atiku Mu’azu, a retired Permanent Secretary and former Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service.
Mu’azu was abducted in Kano, where he had been residing post-retirement, and was tragically killed after his family paid a ransom of ₦10 million.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. Once the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be charged and prosecuted accordingly.
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed deep shock and sadness over Mu’azu’s death, commending the swift response of security agencies in apprehending a suspect. He called for a thorough investigation and justice in the case.
