Osun Court Decides on Transport Fare Dispute: Woman to Pay Boyfriend N150,000
A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered Rhoda Adu to pay her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, a total of ₦150,000 in damages after she failed to visit him despite receiving ₦3,000 for transportation.
According to reports, Ms. Adu accepted the transport fare but subsequently switched off her phone and did not fulfill her promise to visit Mr. Sola. Feeling defrauded and emotionally distressed, Mr. Sola reported the incident to the Ayeso Police Station, leading to Ms. Adu’s arrest and court proceedings.
In court, evidence was presented, including the ₦3,000 transfer and WhatsApp messages between the two parties. Magistrate Akogun Oludare ruled that Ms. Adu must refund the ₦3,000 transport fare, pay ₦100,000 for breaching their agreement, and an additional ₦50,000 as special damages for causing Mr. Sola emotional distress. The court noted that this ruling aims to deter others from committing similar offenses.
