Peter Obi’s Stand: No to Coalitions for Power Grabbing
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 Nigerian elections, has stated that he is not interested in forming any political coalition solely aimed at seizing power.
Speaking at the National Conference on Strengthening Democracy in Nigeria held in Abuja, Obi emphasized that his primary concern is the nation’s future and the well-being of its citizens.
He remarked, “I’m not interested in any coalition for the purpose of taking power. It is about discussing Nigeria. How do we care about securing the Nigerians? How do we care about the common person in Nigeria? How do we care about our children being in school? That is the most important thing for now.”
Obi’s comments come amid discussions among opposition leaders about potential alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. He clarified that his focus remains on addressing critical issues affecting Nigerians, such as security, education, and overall national development, rather than merely pursuing political power.
