Court Blocks Police Arrest Warrant for Kano Anti-Graft Head

Legal Ruling Shields Kano Anti-Corruption Chairman from Arrest

A Kano State High Court has issued an interim order restraining the Nigeria Police Force, including the Inspector General of Police and the Kano State Commissioner of Police, from arresting or inviting Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

The court’s decision prohibits the police and their agents from taking any actions that could infringe upon Rimingado’s rights.

This legal development follows Rimingado’s earlier arrest and subsequent release on bail. He was directed to report to the police headquarters in Abuja on January 27, 2025.

The restraining order underscores the ongoing tensions between the Kano State anti-graft agency and the police, highlighting the complexities of law enforcement and anti-corruption efforts in the region.
