Rapper Sues Ride-Hailing Company After Size Discrimination Incident: Video Inside
Detroit-based rapper Dajua Blanding, known professionally as Dank Demoss, has filed a lawsuit against the ride-hailing company Lyft after an incident where a driver allegedly refused her service due to her size.
Blanding, who identifies as a “big beautiful woman” and has publicly shared that she weighs approximately 489 pounds, recounted that upon the driver’s arrival in a Mercedes-Benz sedan, he locked the doors and claimed there was insufficient space and that his vehicle’s tires couldn’t support her weight.
He suggested she request a larger vehicle instead. Blanding captured the exchange on video and shared it on social media, where it quickly gained widespread attention.
In response to the lawsuit, a Lyft spokesperson stated that while they cannot comment on ongoing litigation, the company “unequivocally condemns all forms of discrimination” and emphasizes the importance of equal respect and mutual kindness within their community. They highlighted that Lyft’s community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination.
